The Tera50R high performance differential is the first Tera axle to use the patent pending CRD (Constant Radius Design). The design provides extreme ground clearance that is virtually unaffected by pinion angle. To achieve this the axle cover line is rotated 20 degrees. This provides 2 immediate advantages:
It maximizes ground clearance when used with a higher pinion angle, and it keeps the differential cover from coming in contact with any potential obstacles ensuring that all differential components are protected.
The Tera50R is ideal for high performance front axle applications where a larger axle is needed, yet space is limited.
The Tera50R utilizes reverse cut Dana 44 differential internals with the advantage of being able to use the larger Tera60 knuckles and axle shaft. This creates a hybrid axle that has a smaller center section for minimum space and maximum ground clearance with the outer strength of the Tera60R.
The Tera50R housing is cast from high strength ductile iron providing a housing that is extremely strong while still allowing welds to penetrate and hold. Axle tubes are pressed in at exact tolerance and utilize 1026 DOM 3" OD 3/8" wall tubing for superior strength and durability.
Most of the Dana44 components can be used in the Tera50R, making it an ideal high pinion rear replacement axle for Dana44 owners. Axle shafts, brake kits, yokes, and carriers can all be swapped over to the new housing. All that is required for an axle conversion is a new ring and pinion.
